About Dina Emser, Executive Leadership Coach

Dina Emser is a founding partner of Emser International Inc. and an author, speaker and leadership coach who over the last 12 years has been providing coaching, training and consulting services to service-based small businesses, schools, and corporate executives who want to better understand and expand their leadership to increase their productivity and effectiveness.

Over the course of her career, Dina has worked with companies of all sizes from solo-prenuers to Fortune 100 companies to step up their presence as leaders by reprioritizing their activities, embracing their strengths to maximize their productivity, and creating roadmaps to accelerate their growth and achieve their goals.

An Impressive Career as Education Leader
Prior to starting her own company in 1999, Dina grew her organizational abilities and her capacity to inspire and motivate others as a classroom teacher and school principal. Never able to say no to a challenge, Dina was given opportunities to teach in all grades from prekindergarten to the eighth grade, and in all styles of classrooms from self contained to multi age. Her classroom organization, effectiveness and leadership landed her a position as school principal in a unique school that incorporated a management style based on the philosophy of Alfred Adler, Rudolf Dreikurs and Ray Corsini.

One of only a handful of such schools in the world, Dina had many opportunities to present at national and international education conferences which ignited her passion to teach adult learners. One of these presentations attracted the attention of nationally know parenting expert, Jane Nelsen, author of the Positive Discipline series. Jane was so impressed with Dina’s expertise in Alderian psychology as it applied to building responsibility and resiliency in school-aged children, their teachers and parents, that she invited Dina to become certified as a Positive Discipline Trainer. This certification led to opportunities to provide training for educators and parent leaders in over 15 states and 5 countries. Dina is now a Certified Positive Discipline Lead Trainer taking responsibility to facilitate the advanced trainings to certify new trainers in the organization as well as a member of the Positive Discipline International Speakers Bureau.

The Journey into Entrepreneurship
During the time Dina served as a school principal, she hired a professional coach to help her navigate the challenges of her professional leadership while balancing the responsibilities of a busy home life with young children. This relationship had such an immediate and lasting impact on the way Dina handled her opportunities that she decided to enroll in the Coaches Training Institute, one of the premier coach training programs in the world, to become trained and certified as a Professional Co-Active Coach. She was convinced that it would make her a more effective educational leader. Colleagues became interested in the new field of coaching as a result of Dina’s passion, and she quickly began collecting clients who wanted to work with her. It didn’t take long for her to dream up her new career and take steps to build it.

The Next Level: Leadership Coaching
In January of 1999, Dina gave her resignation to the school board and began to form her new company. Her dream was to join her skills as coach and trainer to truly help women leaders bring more of their skills and talents to their organizations, their families, and their communities with more clarity, effectiveness, grace and ease.  Her desire was to continue providing educational consulting to schools and further the work of Positive Discipline, while also offering leadership training to business professionals who had a similar need to learn better and more respectful ways to solve problems and get along on the “playground” of life. She felt especially drawn to women high performers who were promoted to leadership positions and were feeling overwhelmed due to lack of sufficient training and support to manage and lead others.

Over the last decade, Dina has served thousands of professionals through her trainings, individual coaching and coaching groups. She has written extensively and her essays are published monthly in Numero magazine. She is a co-author of Roadmap to Success with Stephen Covey and Ken Blanchard. In 2009 she wrote her first solo book, Trusting the Fortune Within. Her upcoming book is called The Working Parent’s Guide to Raising Great Team Members: Learn to Lead with Respect, Grace & Dignity and Get the Results You Desire is expected in 2012.

Her Vision for a Better World
Dina believes strongly that people are uniquely talented and that as they are encouraged and empowered with strategies to bring more of themselves to the world that everyone benefits. In 2011, she began the next mile of her journey to teach aspiring women leaders to unleash their energy, embrace the leader within, and build incredible businesses to sustain themselves and the world. Her services are provided within the structure of her Leadership Programs.

Dina resides in the Midwest with her husband of 33 years, sculptor Bob Emser. She is the mother of two successful young adults, daughter of a spunky 87-year-old mother, and grateful friend of many. In her spare times she loves to read, garden, walk and bike. She is an avid yoga practitioner who enjoys the regular stretch into new levels of consciousness – mind, spirit and reluctant body.
